Illumina provides subscription audio sermon and ministry content (including content associated with Light World Mission / Prophet Nsame Leslie under applicable licences).
No separate data protection officer is appointed; privacy requests go to [email protected]. We will complete Personal Data Protection Authority formalities as required under Cameroon law.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account and identity
We collect information when you register or sign in, including via email/password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple:
- User ID
- Email address
- Display name (if provided by you or your sign-in provider)
- Profile photo URL (if provided by your sign-in provider)
- Authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in
We do not use phone number for Illumina app login.
2.2 Membership status
We store membership-related fields such as subscription status, expiry, trial information, and related entitlement data so the app and website can unlock content you are entitled to. The mobile app receives membership status from our systems; it does not collect card numbers for iOS checkout (iOS has no in-app purchase flow).
2.3 Device information
To support security features such as a single-device lock, we may collect a device identifier and store it as an active device ID associated with your account. We may also collect device type, OS, app version, and connectivity information.
2.4 Usage and analytics (optional)
We use Firebase Analytics to log product events (for example, subscription-related events and prayer-wall interactions) only if you opt in. Analytics is not required to buy or use a membership. You can choose this on checkout and change your choice by emailing [email protected]. Analytics remains optional and off by default at checkout.
2.5 Crash and diagnostics
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and diagnostic data so we can fix bugs and improve stability.
2.6 Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging and local notifications for devotionals, prayer-related notices, membership reminders, and similar service messages. You can disable notifications in device settings.
2.7 Prayer wall and user content
If you use prayer-wall features, we store content you submit (such as prayer text), your user ID, display name, and participation metadata. Treat this as user-generated content linked to your account.
2.8 Payments (website)
Membership payments are processed on https://illuminaweb.app by payment providers such as Flutterwave (trial) and, where enabled, GeniusPay, Fapshi, or Tranzak. Payment card or mobile-money details are handled by those providers on the web. The iOS app is login/playback only for membership purchasing.
2.9 Local storage
The app may store data on your device (including preferences and encrypted offline sermon files) to support playback and performance.
2.10 Information we do not seek via the iOS app
We do not request access to your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone, or photo library for core Illumina features, and we do not use advertising identifiers or third-party advertising/tracking SDKs in the current iOS product configuration described to us.
2.11 Checkout consents
When you buy a membership on the website we record whether you acknowledged withdrawal information and whether you opted in to Analytics and/or Marketing. Those records help us prove prior information and consent (Law 2010/021 Art. 26; Law 2024/017).
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and secure accounts and authenticate users;
- provide entitlements and audio content;
- operate single-device access controls;
- send service and (if enabled) notification messages;
- operate prayer-wall and related community features;
- analyse usage if you opted in to Analytics;
- send marketing messages only if you opted in to Marketing;
- detect crashes, abuse, fraud, and security issues;
- process memberships via our website and payment providers;
- respond to support and withdrawal requests;
- comply with law and enforce our Terms.
Marketing messages are sent only if you opt in at website checkout (or later via Support). Marketing is not required for membership.
4. Legal bases and applicable law
We operate primarily from Cameroon. Law No. 2024/017 is the principal personal-data statute.
Non-essential Analytics and Marketing are opt-in only.
Cameroonian rules on electronic communications and electronic commerce (including Law 2010/021) may also apply when we sell memberships online. This Policy does not replace a formal legal opinion.
If you use the Services from another country, additional laws may apply.
5. How we share information
We share information with service providers that help us run Illumina, including:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, analytics if opted-in, crash reporting, messaging);
- Google and Apple when you choose their sign-in services;
- Web payment processors (e.g. Flutterwave, GeniusPay, Fapshi, or Tranzak, where enabled);
- hosting and infrastructure providers;
- professional advisers when necessary;
- authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information and do not use third-party advertising tracking SDKs in the current iOS configuration described above.
We do not automatically share your full account data with ministry partners unless a feature requires it and we disclose that, or you ask us to.
6. International processing — Firebase cross-border warning
Warning — data processed outside Cameroon. Firebase (Google) and other providers may process personal data on servers outside Cameroon, including in the United States or other regions. That is a cross-border transfer under Law 2024/017.
Cross-border transfers are subject to Cameroon Law 2024/017 requirements; we take reasonable contractual and technical steps appropriate to our size and risk profile.
We take reasonable contractual and technical steps appropriate to our size and risk profile. Primary non-Cameroon processing is via Google Firebase and related Google/Apple sign-in services, as described above.
7. Retention
We keep personal information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for security, backups, dispute resolution, accounting, and legal obligations. Prayer-wall content may remain visible to other users until deleted under product rules or account deletion.
Checkout acknowledgement and consent records may be kept for the period needed to prove compliance with Laws 2010/021 and 2024/017. We keep these records while your account is active and for up to thirty (30) days after account deletion, unless a longer period is required by law.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise associated personal data that we are not legally required to retain.
8. Security
We use HTTPS in transit, access controls, and encrypted local storage for certain offline content. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to Law 2024/017 and other applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal information, or ask questions, by emailing [email protected].
Account deletion
If you have an Illumina account, you can initiate account deletion in the mobile app under Account / Settings (or Profile). You will be asked to confirm (for example by typing your email or DELETE). You may also email [email protected] for help, but email is not the only path.
When you confirm deletion we:
- delete your Firebase sign-in account;
- anonymise or remove profile fields we no longer need (including device and push identifiers where applicable);
- anonymise prayer-wall authorship where your prayers remain as content;
- clear local account data on the deleting device where practicable;
- take steps to revoke Sign in with Apple tokens when that sign-in method was used.
Some billing, backup, or legally required records may remain and are processed or purged within thirty (30) days (or longer if the law requires retention). We will indicate timing in the app where feasible.
Deletion removes your ability to sign in with that account. It does not by itself cancel a payment-provider subscription if one remains active on the web — manage billing on https://illuminaweb.app or contact Support.
Notifications and permissions
Control push notifications and app permissions in your device settings.
Analytics and marketing
Analytics and Marketing are separate, optional, off by default at website checkout. They are not a condition of membership. To withdraw a prior opt-in, email [email protected]. To withdraw Analytics or Marketing consent, email [email protected] from your account address.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13. Users under 18 should have parent or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us to delete it.
11. Apple App Privacy labels
Data practices for the iOS app are also summarised in Apple’s App Privacy section on the App Store product page (including data collected by us and integrated third-party code such as Firebase).
12. Changes
We may update this Policy by posting a new version with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated in-app or by email where appropriate.
